As you can obviously imagine, memers went absolutely crazy and the internet witnessed a storm of Rashi, Rasoda and Gopi Bahu memes!

It’s stuck!

Twitter celebrates with Memes as Putin announces Vaccine!

Remember the excitement we had when the Indian Council of Medical Research had announced the first indigenous vaccine, Covaxin?

We definitely felt like we were on top of the world. THIS WAS IT.

Well, it wasn’t. It was rather a small glimmer of hope. Multiple questions and doubts have been raised against Covaxin and the trials. We are still not sure.

However, in the meanwhile, another major power has stepped up the game and released possibly the ‘world’s first vaccine’ against Covid-19.

President Vladimir Putin recently announced that Russia has developed the first vaccine offering “sustainable immunity” against the coronavirus.

“This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered”, he said during a televised video conference call with government ministers.

Putin also added that his daughter has been given a shot of the new COVID-19 vaccine. This novel coronavirus vaccine has been named Sputnik V, and was developed in Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute.

The director of the Institute of Medical Parasitology announced that, “The safety of the vaccine has been confirmed. It corresponds to the safety of those vaccines that are currently on the market.”

However, experts have raised questions regarding its safety and effectiveness since it is being claimed to be approved for civilian use even before clinical trials are completed.

#RussianVaccine has been trending ever since the announcement. Memers are taking to Twitter to express their scepticism and concern regarding Sputnik V.

However, people have mostly celebrated this positive development with hilarious memes and jokes. The netizens are continuously providing us with some funny reactions and we are just LOVING it!

IT’S MEME TIME!!!!!!!

Jo tera hai woh mera hai!

Where will Corona hide now?

Do na humko, do na plzz

Kaafi busy now!

Go Corona GO!

Life will be easier now!

The news of the vaccine has given us a ray of hope. Yet, the future still remains to be highly uncertain. However, the only thing that is certain is the non-stop supply of memes from our end.

Memes about Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: Yeh Serial Kya Dikhata Hai?

The pandemic has changed our lives completely. Right since March, when the entire country went under a lockdown, we have had a terrible time coping up with things and adapting to the new lifestyle.

The entertainment industry had to face numerous challenges with the initiation of the coronavirus. The upcoming movies were shifted from theatres to OTT platforms, and the TV soaps and serials had to stop shooting.

Now, with life slowly resuming pace, shoots have started to begin with all the necessary precautions. However, one particular serial has caught everyone’s attention because of its bizarre reopening episode.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a daily TV serial running for 11 years now! The show has earned quite a name for the various twists and turns that it provides. This time, however, the twist was indeed very, very “unique”.

The twist is what we would like to call a “Covid Twist”…

The show, highlighting the current on-going pandemic, resumed its episodes by making the characters wear masks and face shields.

Yep, you heard that right!

Now we have a show which has changed its entire script according to the looming coronavirus outside! And you say that Indian TV shows are not ‘realistic’.

The characters are primarily seen discussing about the virus and the various problems that the family has to face during the nationwide lockdown.

The lead couple were also seen performing the process that one needs to follow before leaving the house.

But hang on, it didn’t stop there.

Karthik (Mohsin Khan) was also shown (trying to) to kiss Naira (Shivangi Joshi) through her face shield…

It’s safe guys! This is the proper way…

Naturally, Twitter couldn’t handle the cringe and started doing what it does best:

We will let you know as soon as we find out!

Covid who?

Dropping truth bombs huh

Kehlata hai?

The usage of shields, masks and ‘romance’ has brought this show in the spotlight amidst millennials. And with it, came its memes.

Can you guess what followed this?

These memes automatically promoted the show on social media.

The fact that a Netflix-generation is discussing about a saas-bahu soap opera is testimonial to the real power of memes on the internet.

One who has the control over memes, has the control over everything.

So why wait?

#Tonorrow MEMES show the difficulties of making a typo!

Grammar Nazis Trigger Warning:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat is something that the entire nation looks forward to every month. It is through this show that PM Modi addresses all Indians.

However, things took a slight turn this time a day before his Sunday address.

PM Modi took to Twitter to ask the people to tune in at 11 AM on 26th July. But wait, there’s a small error there. In his tweet he or perhaps his social media team misspelled ‘tomorrow’ as ‘tonorrow’.

The tweet triggered the Grammar Nazis and they came onto Twitter to create some hilarious memes about it.

Many people started comparing this to the ‘covfefe’ moment of U.S. President Donald Trump. In this similar instance, President Trump had misspelled the word ‘coverage’ as ‘covfefe’. Trump had tweeted, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe” on May 31, 2017.

It is very surprising that literally anything under the sun can become a major trend on Twitter. What is ‘tonorrow’? A simple typo which can happen with anyone.

But, on Twitter, it may get a little heavy!

The trend was further escalated when a few other leaders copied the exact same text and pasted it on Twitter without noticing the typo.

The Indian Meme Community did not leave this opportunity to poke the leaders for not proofreading the tweet. The trend led the tweet to be deleted. But don’t worry, the memes are still fresh and will make you ROFL!

Let the memes begin…

This one’s for the Bond fans!

Hahaha, true that!

Exasperating Farrago…

Bohot Hard! Bohot Hard!

It’s too much for the Oxford Graduates!

Well, all we can say is, typos can happen to anyone. ‘tonorrow’ was a simple error, but the memes that followed turned out to be so hilarious that we just couldn’t stop noticing such a tiny typo.

Kinda shows how powerful memes can be these days. Even such tiny little details can be brought into the limelight through memes.

Memes =

With memes, anything and everything can trend on the internet!

So why not harness this power for marketing?

3 Steps to Have a Successful Meme Campaign

Memes have grown in popularity over the years and have become an important tool on social media platforms for many reasons. Because they are fun and relatable, they can be enjoyed by everyone and are one of the best ways to gain engagement on social media.

As people’s lives become more and more internet and social media-oriented, it is becoming clearer that meme marketing is going to play a huge role in the future of marketing.

Today, a number of brands are starting to go down the route of meme marketing because memes have become the favorite type of content that people on the internet consume.

But like any other marketing strategy, brands need to keep some things in mind for this too.

  1. Determine Target Demographic

Firstly, brands need to understand their target demographic.

Understanding your target audience and their media browsing habits is crucial to any marketing campaign.

By knowing what your audience searches for on the internet, you can understand which trends to make memes about as well as your audience’s sense of humour.

After all, the selling point of memes is that they are witty and relatable!

With social media platforms growing in popularity, memes are becoming more and more effective than advertisements. They help in sharing marketing content better than advertisements do.

Why?

Rather than being skipped like advertisements, they resonate with the audiences and hence awareness can be raised about the brand/product.

  1. The Memes and Campaigns must be Timed Right

It is common knowledge that social media is extremely fast-paced now. Trends change and arise almost every single day.

But it is important to keep in mind that not every trend will work for your brand. The product and the brand should also be analyzed before jumping onto a meme trend.

Further, because memes do not have a very long lifespan, it is crucial to ensure that it gets a good amount of exposure in a short span of time.

  1. The Medium of Circulating Brand Memes

This brings us to our last point: the medium through which these memes are posted online is supremely important.

Again, most advertisements tend to be skipped. So naturally, advertisements and other traditional forms of marketing are essentially ineffective and are becoming obsolete day by day.

So how can you get exposure for your memes?

Meme accounts!

The Indian meme community is growing every day and has millions of followers that are all extremely diverse.

The admins of these meme accounts also understand the sense of humour that appeals to the younger generations better than brands do.

So the potential for a better outreach is much larger than advertisements because these memes can also spread like wildfire across other meme accounts and their followers if they are constructed well because they can be shared very easily.

And the biggest reason why meme marketing can work is because it doesn’t interrupt the flow of content that users consume on a daily basis like video advertisements do.

So, all in all, memes hold immense potential in the digital marketing world. From enjoying an immense viewership to almost a nil skip rate, they can upscale your brand’s online reach.
